History
The
Orthopedic Biomechanics Laboratory was established in 1979 by Augustus
A. White III, M.D., then Chief of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery,
and by Wilson C. Hayes, Ph.D., Laboratory Director. From 1979 to 1983,
the Laboratory occupied 800 square feet of a converted research surgical
suite on the third floor of the Slosberg-Landray Building. In 1983, the
Laboratory moved to 3800 square feet of new research space on the
seventh floor of the Dana Research Building. In April, 1994, the
Orthopedic Biomechanics Laboratory moved to Research North, a new $18
million, 100,000 square foot research facility at 99 Brookline Avenue.
In June 1998 Dr. Brian Snyder was named Acting Director of the
Orthopedic Biomechanics Laboratory after the departure of Dr. Wilson
Hayes and in October 2000 Dr. Snyder was named Director. The Laboratory
now occupies approximately 5,800 square feet of combined research
laboratory and office space. |
